Welcome to the Clay Works!
High above Loch Ness, on the edge of the Caledonian tundra and set in two hundred acres of ancient oak and birch woodland, is the former steading that is the home of the Clay Works Pottery and Cafe.
A Highland Potter
For the last decades, Rebekah Allan has been producing a wide range of artisan stoneware, both decorative and domestic. The glowing colours of her glazes reflect the changing moods of surrounding wild and ever-changing landscape.
The Clayworks
,We offer wide range of colourful stoneware as you will see in our online gallery. We sell only from the Clayworks or remotely, but undertake commissions and our work goes all over the world.
Our Walkers’ Cafe
Enjoy the range of Marion’s cakes which are appreciated by our many visitors. Many teas and excellent coffee.
Table d’Hote dinners or walkers’ breakfasts upon prior arrangement only.
Our Location
Our Gallery is open 7 days a week from 10am to 6 pm and other times by arrangement. Situated just yards off the Great Glen Way, the walkers’ highway, and at the foot of the path to the summit of Meall Fuar Mhonie, perhaps the best placed view-point north of the Glen, we are surrounded by the birch and oak forest skirting Loch Ness, with the evidence of thousands of years of habitation. If you walk, cycle or ride, or if you simply want to soak up the atmosphere of peace and ancient presence, this place awaits you.
To get here by car, turn off the A82 as it leaves Lewiston and Drumnadrochit. Signpost to Bunloit on one side and our Pottery sign on the other. Drive 4.5 miles to the end of the road, through the walkers’ car park and up our drive which takes you over a small bridge to the Clay Works.
